We just wrapped up our biggest launch of the year, our annual enrollment of my eight-week copywriter coaching program, the Copy Posse Launch Pad. One of these ads achieved an incredible 921% ROI! So let’s dive into the details.

Ad Breakdown and Strategies

Hey Posse, it’s Alex! This week, I’m giving you a sneak peek into the recent launch of season five of my Copy Posse Launch Pad live copywriter coaching program. I’ll be breaking down two of our most successful ads, explaining our target audience, the messaging we used, how we formatted the copy, and most importantly, how we prepared our customers to buy even before they saw the ads.

Ad 1: Achieving 508% ROI Our first ad targeted individuals looking to start a copywriting side hustle. These are people likely new to paid writing, often juggling a full-time job or other commitments. Here’s what worked:

  • Visuals: A picture of me, which consistently performs better in ads. There’s substantial data backing up the effectiveness of faces in graphics.
  • Clarity: The ad clearly indicates that it’s for the Launch Pad program.
  • Hook: “Start your copywriting side hustle from scratch in 2024.”

Copy Highlights:

  • Directly addresses the target audience’s pain points and aspirations.
  • Combats common objections with social proof.
  • Provides a high-level overview of the program benefits without overwhelming details.
  • Strong call to action (CTA) with a sense of urgency.

Ad 2: Achieving up to 921% ROI The second ad, which targeted a more aware and ready-to-commit audience, used a slightly different approach:

  • Visuals: Same image of me with consistent branding in pink and black.
  • Hook: “Write an irresistible portfolio and ignite your copywriting biz in 2024.”

Copy Highlights:

  • Opens with a surprising fact about the demand for writing skills.
  • Addresses fears about AI taking over writing jobs.
  • Lists benefits and features of the program tailored to the audience’s desires.
  • Ends with a strong CTA emphasizing the limited enrollment window.

Key Insights and Lessons

Both ads performed exceptionally well because they were retargeting ads shown to warm leads—people who had previously interacted with our brand through free content, engagement ads, or email lists. This priming is crucial for high conversion rates. The ads didn’t need extensive storytelling or education about the offer, as the audience was already familiar with the brand and its value.

Big Takeaway: To replicate this success, you need to:

  • Understand your audience’s level of awareness.
  • Tailor your messaging to each stage of the customer journey.
  • Use retargeting to show ads to warm leads.
